The theme for the month: Working/Playing illuminated in neon seemed just for us on our walk through the Pearl. While the boys and I roam free from morning 'till afternoon, Bill the working stiff is stuck in a home office slugging through his work day. Good news: With the time change he is done by 3:00 p.m. and can come work on the "playing part" of this vacation. More good news: The majority of his work weeks have only 3 working days.
Our first full day in Portland. Fourth of July, not my favorite holiday. Whatever. The boys love fireworks, so we asked at checker at the New Seasons grocery store where we could view some. He gave us a tip to hit Counsel Crest park and we would have a lovely view of every display in the city. We did. Luckily for me, 20 minutes of that was all the boys needed to feel 4th of July satisfied.
The first day exploring the village happened to be the 4th of July. Everything was closed, but once the munchkins spotted the upscale toy store, they made us promise to come back as soon as possible. We all walked the next morning to scope out the joint.
Romney had an interesting con-
versation with his friend Llarry the Llama. I wasn't privy to the details, but it was pretty im-
passioned. I wonder if he was asking for tips of what to enjoy while in town?
