Romney's Reason for Visiting Portland

For the past few months, since we have had our trip planned. People have been asking us what we are looking forward to doing in Portland. Romney's answer has never wavered and has been direct and clear: "I am going to eat a Voodoo donut." 4 days into our sojourn in Portland, Romney achieved donut nirvana.

In a few months, I will look back at this post and this photo in particular and suddenly have an insatiable craving that cannot be satisfied in Salt Lake for the perfect vegan donut. But as of this moment, I am totally and completely satisfied having enjoyed this beautiful cake donut with vanilla frosting and sprinkles (every donut, vegan or not, tastes better with sprinkles.) Romney had a pink one with a double bubble piece of gum in the middle, William had some kind of blood sugar ransacker covered in blue raspberry kool-aid, and Bill had a vegan chocolate with nuts (BORING!).


Donuts are the first draw to Voodoo, but the pinball machines are a close second. Last visit, the boys scored finding a machine that was working without paying the quarter. Beginners luck. This time, they forked out the quarter ("They" of course, meaning raiding the change from the car we keep for parking meters.)


Last but not least, we hit the black and white photo booth for some very un-
flattering, but funny in 10 years, photo booth photos of the 4 of us goofing off. What we do best.
