You've Got A Friend

Another summertime ritual, and one of our favorites, a visit from our favorite Nebraska-ites-- Jackson and Ashley. Friends since before preschool, William and Jackson have a bond that is deep and strong. They are as different as could be, both physically (seen evidenced in the photo) as well as socially. William is the yin to Jackson's yang (That sounds so wrong! :) Yet somehow, they just seem to "get" each other. And each year they get to visit with each other it is like no time has passed since they last saw each other. We usually get to swim at the Wirthlin's home (Jill's parents), but this year, William and Jackson also got to go to Lagoon together when Jackson's cousins forgot he was coming and headed to Idaho leaving Jackson without any family buddies to hang out with on their family Lagoon trip. William and Jackson took off armed with William's phone to experience all the "big" rides themselves. William has the best memories of this treat and will for years to come.


Ashley is the closest thing to a "girlfriend" Romney knows. They spent so much time together as little ones that they used to relate to each other like siblings would. Now with some distance, Romney when he thinks ahead to the time he wants to be a husband and daddy can only imagine that happening with Ashley. The strength of both of their personalities makes that a very funny scenario to imagine. But, who knows, maybe Jill and I will be related as more than just "soul" sisters one day in the future. :)
