Thank You For The Music

3 years, countless lessons and several hundred (perhaps thousands, I don't want to know) dollars later, we had to say good bye to a dear friend. William's piano /Romney's guitar teacher taught our boys their final lessons earlier this month. Angela has been an amazing influence on my boys and has given them a true love of their instruments-- making lessons fun and comfortable, helping them to blossom as young musicians. They grew to love her, and her them and the special relationship they have with her has paid off, manifesting itself with a true love of music from my little guys. How lucky we have been as a family to have had that experience. William loved her enough to promise to practice every day without complaint in return for my being willing to drive to Provo every 2 weeks to keep her as his teacher when she moved from Salt Lake. Romney, when he decided he wanted a guitar this past Christmas knew exactly who he wanted to teach him, after watching Angela with William for the 2 1/2 years prior.

That gift of music, and already having had such a positive and fun experience with it, helped ease their transitions to new teachers this past month. We have searched high and low looking for a suitable replacement. William's piano teacher has proven to be a good fit already. Bringing a different style and energy to teaching, but still making the experience fun. Romney found a teacher who is young and fun and has a drum set in his studio that he lets Romney try out. We haven't had a true "lesson" with him yet, but he seems like he, too, will be a great fit. I am happy not to drive to Provo anymore, but was happy to do it to have our lovely "Angela Experience". We will miss our friend, but wish her and her adorable family all the best in their new adventures.

P.S. Check out her beautiful singing/songwriting skills: www.angelasoffe.com
