Celebrating Rebirth

Trees full of pink and white blossoms, tulips and daffodils and green grass-- the sure signs of spring. Easter baskets full of beautifully decorated eggs and treats are yet another sign that we have made it through another long, Utah winter. A favorite Easter tradition of ours is participating in a friend's Easter Egg Hunt at Gilgal Gardens (one of Salt Lake City's best kept secrets and a true treasure).


About 15 families descend upon these gardens and hide a plethora of eggs (enough for each child to walk away with a full basket). The kids have so much fun looking in all the nooks and crannies of the Joseph Smith Sphinx and the plaid brick pants of the statue of the creator of the garden. Today was no exception. The weather was perfect and the children and adults all enjoyed the warmth of the sun, the company, the good food and the happy clamoring of children on the hunt.
After the hunt, Bill and I were able to take a wonderful walk through City Creek Canyon and Memory Grove to soak in even more of those perfect spring rays! The boys love the hour each week where we leave them at home alone to play computer games while we have our date. I can't believe they are getting big enough to leave alone for short periods of time. But I can't complain! It is really nice to get that time alone with Bill each week.

The boys big Easter present this year? A giant 10 foot playground quality swing set. The amount of laughs and giggles and smiles we all had playing on it today have already make the cost worth it!
