What can you do on a Saturday afternoon with $4.50 a person and a half-hour? Learn how to scuba dive. William and Bill were the benefactors of my obsessive Groupon scouring, and each scored a 20 minute (which turned into 45 minutes) introductory SCUBA lesson.
The two suited up and headed into the pool to try out the Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. After adding as many weights as they could find to try and keep our skinny Mr. William on the bottom of the pool (the only time his Mama would condone weighing him down to get him to sink to the bottom of a pool) the lesson began.
After 45 minutes of practicing the art of breathing in an environ-
ment not meant to be friendly to human respiration, they emerged from their chlorinated mock-ocean ecstatic and invigorated by the experience, ready to sign-up for the full accreditation experience and planning a trip to Hawaii to take a peek under a body of water without the lifeguards and chlorine.
