Ahhh... the smell of prepubescent boys and freshly painted balsa wood, must be Derby time. Romney, not one to like a lot of rules and regulations, has not wanted to do Cub Scouts. His Mama couldn't be happier. (Details about that are borderline neurotic and for another post.) However, when they brought a pinewood derby car kit to church with his name on it, it was ON! He has been waiting for 4 years for his chance to make a car. (Bill and I were the den leaders when William was 8. Don't ask.) Romney knew just exactly what he wanted to make... a yellow submarine derby car.
Papa and son spent many hours making that dream come true. Designing the perfect submarine shape, picking just the right shade of yellow and figuring out how to place the stripes just right. Though it was not the quickest car on the track, it was the only one with a working propeller. John, Paul, George, and Ringo would be proud. Rock and Roll Old School-- that is how my Romney rolls.
